Security Forces Capture Two Terror Cells That Carried Out Shootings

Israeli security forces succeeded in apprehending members of the two terrorist cells that had carried out shooting attacks in Yehudah and Shomron.

In a joint operation of Shin Bet and the IDF, arrests were made of two residents of the Palestinian town of Rantis who took part several weeks ago in shooting at an Israeli vehicle at the junction between Nili and Beit Aryeh in the Binyamin council. In that incident, the Israeli driver was wounded in the face by a bullet.

The two perpetrators were apprehended the next night during an IDF manhunt. Under questioning, they confessed to other crimes, including a second shooting incident and the throwing of firebombs and rocks over the past several years.

In a separate operation carried out in recent days by the security forces, five residents of Ya’bad, about 15 miles west of Jenin in the Shomron, were arrested on suspicion of having been behind gunfire directed at an IDF post next to Ya’bad. The vehicle they used in the terror attacks was also seized. Charges were filed against them in the military court of Yehudah and Shomron.

Meanwhile, on Monday, firebomb and rock-throwing at Israeli vehicles, both military and civilian, continued in various locations. B’chasdei Shamayim, no injuries were reported.
