Travelers from Yerushalayim who need to get to Ben Gurion Airport will, beginning next week, be able to do so by bus. A new line operated by the Afikim bus company will operate 24 hours a day, six days a week, ending at 2 p.m. Fridays and starting up again Motzoei Shabbos. The line will stop in several neighborhoods in the center of the city.

The new bus line will provide a much-needed low-cost transportation option for residents of Yerushalayim, who until now had to take expensive private taxis, or shared transport vehicles during off-hours. The new bus, line 486, will cost NIS 16 in each direction. The bus will operate about once an hour, and the ride between the Central Bus Station and the airport will take around 50 minutes.

“We are proud to have been selected to operate this line, which is historical in that it is the first time there will be a direct, fast bus connection between Yerushalayim and Ben Gurion Airport,” said Nir Sharon, CEO of Afikim. “There is no question that this is a significant upgrade for many passengers, and an important connection for both local residents and tourists.”
