Israeli soldiers were searching for an Arab security prisoner who escaped while he was being taken for medical care in northern Israel. The prisoner, a 32-year-old Arab from the Shomron village of Damoun, was at large Sunday afternoon. Security officials opened a widespread search for him.

The prisoner escaped as he was taken for tests at Ha’emek Hospital in Afula, after complaining of pains. He escaped as he was being transferred from a prison van to the hospital. Police said they had received numerous tips on the case, and expect to apprehend him.
