The Education Ministry has authorized funding for thousands of hours of Torah study in yeshivos ketanos. The increase came after efforts by Deputy Education Minister Rabbi Meir Porush, together with the staff of the chareidi education department in the Ministry.

The extra hours will be provided to students who need extra assistance or tutoring. Until now, schools received one paid hour of assistance per student per month, with the hours used collectively to provide help for students who needed it. The rule change quadruples that amount, meaning that many more study and assistance hours will now be available.

The assistance comes in the form of tutoring, mentoring of students, or even providing paramedical services to help them overcome stress, disadvantaged backgrounds and other issues that might hinder their advancement. The additional funding comes in addition to another funding increase last month, further increasing the number of hours available for assistance to students.
