Off-Duty Corrections Officer Fatally Shot in Her Car

BROOKLYN (AP/Hamodia) —

An off-duty corrections officer was fatally shot Sunday night while sitting in a car outside a home in the Flatlands section of Brooklyn.

Alastasia Bryan, 25, was found with gunshot wounds to her head and torso. She was pronounced dead at the scene. The rookie cop lived in East New York, about four miles away, and had recently began working in Rikers Island.

The Corrections Officers’ Benevolent Association has issued a statement saying the corrections family is “shocked and grieving the horrific murder” of Bryan.

A motive for the shooting remains unclear.
