Terror Plotter Arrested in Yerushalayim

YERUSHALAYIM

The Shin Bet said on Thursday that it had prevented a terrorist attack in Yerushalayim being plotted by a Palestinian resident in the capital.

The suspect, Mahmoud Mussa Abbasi, 25, a Hamas supporter from eastern Yerushalayim, was arrested three weeks ago and indicted Thursday on charges of conspiracy to commit a terrorist attack and other crimes.

Under interrogation, it emerged that Abbasi intended a shooting attack on security forces and civilians in east Yerushalayim. He also sought to obtain weapons for the attack, and to get information on making pipe bombs, according to the Shin Bet.

In addition, the suspect was found to have been involved in a number of incidents in which firebombs and rocks were thrown at Israeli security forces.
