The Ministry of Construction and Housing announced on Thursday that it has signed agreements with 15 Arab localities over the past six months for the planning and marketing of hundreds of housing units and commercial and industrial zones, according to Globes.

Agreements were concluded on Thursday with local authorities in Yafia, Sakhnin, Tira and Nazareth, and 50 more on the list.

They represent implementation of Cabinet Resolution No. 922, passed last January, in which the government pledged aid in the amount of 1.41 billion shekels through 2020 to fund housing solutions in the Arab sector.

Minister of Construction and Housing Yoav Galant said, “In the next 20 years, Israel will need one million housing units, including 200,000 for the Arab sector. We are therefore devising long-term solutions that will facilitate a substantial improvement in housing conditions by increasing the number of housing units, planning high-density construction, and developing new public [infrastructure] according to community needs.”
