NEW YORK – It’s official: New York City tap water is the best for hundreds of miles around.

The city’s tap water bagged the top prize in the state’s Regional Metro Tap Water Taste Test competition Thursday, the Department of Environmental Protection said.

The Big Apple took home the big prize. Their water will next compete in a statewide competition on Sept. 2.

The last time the city won the state title in 2008, besting 150 other municipal water systems.
