Whale Sighted Off Israeli Coast
A 30-foot-long whale was sighted several times in the waters off Israel’s Mediterranean coast on Sunday, according to The Jerusalem Post.
The rare visitor was first noticed at approximately 9:00 a.m. off Tel Aviv’s Gordon Beach swimming northward, according to the Israel Marine Mammal Research & Assistance Center.
It was spotted a second time at around 9:45 by a surfing tourist at the city’s Hilton Beach.
Then, at the nearby Mezizim Beach, divers swam out to the whale and even managed to pet him for several minutes. They reported he looked thin.
The whale was last seen around 2:00 p.m., about 450 feet away from Dado Beach in Haifa.
IMMRAC requested for members of the public who spot the whale to contact them.
