Former Postal Worker Gets Probation for Stealing From Mail

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (AP) —

A former postal worker has been sentenced to 18 months of probation for stealing gift cards and other items from the mail.

Sheila Fullmer of Caledonia was a mail clerk at a Rochester distribution center in October when law enforcement agents saw her rifling through the mail and stealing from it.

Federal prosecutors say the 60-year-old Fullmer also was seen using a gift card that had been reported missing. Authorities say she was caught with about $600 in stolen gift cards and cash.

She was sentenced Thursday after being convicted of engaging in theft while performing official government duties.
