Knife-Carrying Palestinian Arrested at Maaras HaMachpelah

Security forces stationed near the entrance to Maaras HaMachpelah thwarted a stabbing attack on Thursday, arresting an Arab man carrying a concealed knife.

Officers noticed the 26-year-old Chevron resident approaching the site and looking suspicious. When they called to him to stop for questioning, he tried to back away. On searching him, they discovered a kitchen knife, apparently intended for use in a stabbing attack.

The suspect was handed over to security forces for interrogation.

Overnight Wednesday, IDF and Yehudah and Shomron regional police arrested six wanted persons. Four of them were suspected of involvement in terror activities and violent riots.

In response to rocket fire launched at Israel late Wednesday night, the Israeli Air Force attacked two Hamas terror infrastructure targets in the Gaza Strip.

Ajnad Bait al-Maqdis, a salafi terror organization linked to ISIS operating in the Gaza Strip, claimed responsibility for rocket fire at southern Israel on Wednesday night.
There were injuries or damage in the rocket attack.
