Report: Egypt Flooded, Collapsed Gaza Smuggling Tunnel

Five people, apparently Gaza Arab terrorists, were killed early Monday when a smuggling tunnel between Sinai and Gaza collapsed. The report on the collapse came from Hamas sources in Gaza and was reported on Israel Radio.

According to the report, Egyptian forces flooded the tunnel, apparently weakening it to the point where it collapsed. Egypt did not comment on the matter. The five are just the latest of dozens of Hamas terrorists who have been killed in major tunnel collapses, which are occurring at the rate of one or more per week.

Speaking Sunday night, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu said that Israel’s peace agreement with Egypt was “stronger than ever, despite the difficult challenges both countries face.” Netanyahu, speaking at a memorial event for former presidents and prime ministers, said that “we are both helping each other in many ways, and both contributing to a safer region.”
