Israeli Man Stabbed in New York City Subway Station
An Orthodox Jewish man was stabbed in an attempted robbery at a New York City subway station early Friday morning, according to local media reports.
The incident occurred at the 6 Train platform at the Bleecker St. station. The victim, a 55-year-old man visiting from Israel, got lost in the subways, sat down on a bench, and fell asleep. He awoke, after 3 a.m., as a man demanded money and slashed him several times before fleeing.
The victim is in stable condition at Bellevue Hospital.
Police are investigating the scene as they hunt for the suspect. Police described the suspect to JP Updates as a black man wearing an orange sweatshirt.
Due to the police investigation in the station, southbound 6 Trains are bypassing the Bleecker Street station.
