Report: Islamic State Targeting Southern Israel

YERUSHALAYIM

Terrorists allied with Islamic State in northern Sinai are targeting southern Israel, according to Salafist senior official in Gaza.

The Salafist leader, Abu al-Ayna al-Ansari, told Aaron Klein Investigative Radio in New York that the radical Islamists are making plans for a “big operation” to include an attack on Eilat.

“The Islamic State educates its people that Israel and the United States are the leaders of the infidels and we believe that Israel should be disappeared,” Ansari told Klein, according to The Jerusalem Post, in a preview of an interview to be broadcast on Sunday in New York.

Israeli security officials have said that the terrorists in Sinai pose a credible threat to the country’s southern population. Col. Yehuda Cohen, the commander of the IDF operations on the border with Egypt, acknowledged in September that it is only a matter of time before such a terror attack is mounted from the Sinai against Israel.

“In the end it must be remembered this organization was formed by terrorists that dream of a terror attack against Israel, and it will come. It’s clear that there will be a terror attack against Israel, I believe that it will happen during my tenure,” he warned on Army Radio.
