Netanyahu: We Shield Europe From Iran, ISIS

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu told visiting Romanian President Werner Iohannis on Monday that Israel is a beacon of freedom that protects the rest of the world.

“When you look at the Middle East there is one country, a beacon of freedom, of democracy, of human rights, that protects not only itself, but by so doing protects everyone else, including Europe.

“It is this basic understanding that we want to impart to our European friendship,” Netanyahu said.

Iohannis and his wife arrived in Israel on Sunday for a six-day visit. Their itinerary includes the Kosel, the Knesset, the Dead Sea and Masada. He will also meet Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas.

The prime minister also exptressed appreciation for Romania’s long standing support for Israel and its strong stand against anti-Semitism since the Holocaust.
