Coldest Weather Of the Season Begins Thursday

NEW YORK

Febrrrruary is here.

The New York City area will see five of its coldest days this winter, starting on Thursday, according to Accuweather.com. The weather through Monday will be as low as the single digits, and have wind chills that will make it feel positively arctic.

Thursday and Friday will be a frigid 16 degrees in the mornings, but it will drop to as low as 3 degrees on Saturday night, with wind chills that will make it feel like minus-25 degrees. Things won’t get much warmer on Sunday, which is forecast to be the chilliest day of the season, with a high of just 19 degrees.

After that, says Accuweather meteorologist Tom Kines, temperatures will return to normal. He predicts the weather in midweek at about 40 degrees with some 50-degree-plus days expected next weekend.

“People are going to be complaining about the cold, but if we can make it through this weekend, there’s light at the end of the tunnel,” Kines said. “There could be a taste of spring coming up.”
