Crash Involving Tractor-Trailer Backs Up Traffic to Staten Island

NEW YORK (AP) —

Authorities say four people have been injured, one seriously, in a crash involving a tractor-trailer and several other vehicles in Brooklyn.

It happened at 6:30 a.m. Thursday in the westbound lanes of the Gowanus Expressway.

Fire officials say one person was extricated from one of the vehicles. Two other people suffered minor injuries and one refused medical attention.

WPIX-TV reports that all outbound lanes were closed for a time causing traffic to back up across the Verrazano Bridge and into Staten Island.

The accident was cleared by 8:30 a.m.
