Greenfield Invites Community to Decide How to Spend $1 Million

BROOKLYN (Hamodia staff) —

Councilman David Greenfield on Tuesday will launch the fourth year of participatory budgeting in his district encompassing Boro Park, Midwood and Bensonhurst.

Participatory budgeting is a unique process in which community members vote on how to spend $1 million. In previous years, Greenfield said in a press release, more than 2,000 residents ages 16 and older directed funding for street repairs, digital bus signs to let riders know when the next bus is coming, 100 new trees planted in Boro Park and funding for a new Ohel headquarters.

The initial meeting will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the Georgie Ballroom at 4424 16th Avenue.
