Palestinian Unity Government to Resign

YERUSHALAYIM (Hamodia Staff) —

The Palestinian government was expected to resign within twenty-four hours from Tuesday night, numerous media outlets reported, quoting a Palestinian political source.

The source said that Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas announced the resignation, and was set to meet with Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah to discuss the situation. Abbas was expected to request that Hamdallah continue as prime minister and form the new government.

The source explained that the government’s resignation was brought about by its inability to act in the Gaza Strip due to obstacles created by Hamas.
