Staten Island Ferry Expanding to Run Every 1/2 Hour
The Staten Island Ferry is expanding to run every half hour, with additional runs overnight and on weekends and with an eventual goal of having nonstop service, Mayor Bill de Blasio announced Wednesday.
“Setting a 30-minute standard for service will help Staten Islanders work, grow businesses on the island, and bring us closer to a day when every New Yorker has access to frequent, reliable public transit,” de Blasio said in a statement.
The additional service starts on May 1. It includes six new round trips a week, one each on Saturday, Sunday and Monday nights and three on Sunday morning.
