Canadian Regulators Suspend Costco Fish Importing
Canadian regulators have suspended Costco Wholesale’s permission to import fish into its stores north of the border.
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency said in a statement dated March 13 that Costco is not reliably and consistently implementing “adequate controls for food safety.”
The suspension became effective Feb. 26, and will remain in place until authorities are convinced that Costco can “effectively manage food safety risks.”
Costco didn’t immediately respond to request for comment.
