Reb Yeshaya Chanoch (Henoch) Adler, z”l

NEW YORK (Hamodia Staff) —

The Gerrer kehillah in New York mourned the petirah of a beloved elder Chassid on Sunday. Reb Yeshaya Chanoch (Henoch) Adler, z”l, was niftar at the age of 97.

Born in Radom, Poland, Reb Henoch was a lifelong Gerrer Chassid. Despite the long decades he spent living in America, he remained true to his “old world” European roots, and never veered away from his mesorah.

The niftar davened during the week at the Naroler beis medrash, where until two years ago he also gave a Daf Yomi shiur. Even after he gave it over, he continued to attend it every day.

He was very close to the Naroler Rebbe, who said “a shtick neshamah was taken away with this loss.” On Shabbos he would daven at the Gerrer Shtiebel in Flatbush, which is under the leadership of Dayan Chaim Kohn.

Maspidim included the Naroler Rebbe; Dayan Kohn; Harav Moshe Tuvia Lieff, Rav of Agudas Yisrael Bais Binyamin; and Harav David Orlewsky, Rosh Yeshivah of the Gerrer Mesivta.

Kevurah was scheduled to take place in Har Hazeisim on Monday. He is survived by son, Reb Arye Adler, and a daughter Mrs. Sarah Radzik.

Yehi zichro baruch.
