Knife-Carrying Palestinians Arrested
A terrorist attack was thwarted late Wednesday night at HaParsa Junction, near Dolev in Binyamin, when 17-year-old Palestinian from Ramallah was arrested carrying a knife.
Under police questioning, it emerged that he had intended hitchhike to Yerushalayim and then stab a bus driver, Arutz Shevareported on Thursday.
Earlier Wednesday night at Maaras Hamachpeleh, a Palestinian in his 20s was arrested and taken in for questioning, after police found that he was carrying a knife.
In the Dolev incident, a local resident was credited with alerting police to the potential terrorist.
Amit Leshem stopped his car for a young man hitchhiking at HaParsa Junction.
But when he asked the teen where he wanted to go, the Palestinian acted confused and suspicious.
Leshem left immediately and called security forces to investigate. Police forces from Modi’in Illit that arrived at the scene a few minutes later, searched through his bag and found a large knife and a screwdriver inside.
He was later placed in the custody of the Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet) for further questioning.
