Cargo Ship Clips Brooklyn Bridge; No Damage

NEW YORK (AP) —

A cargo ship clipped the Brooklyn Bridge on Friday night, but no injuries or damage were reported.

The Rainbow Quest was heading out to sea from the Brooklyn Navy Yard down the East River at about 10:30 p.m. when its mast brushed against the bottom of the iconic span linking Manhattan and Brooklyn.

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority had already scheduled a routine closure on the bridge late Friday and inspected the span when it was closed. She says there was no damage to the bridge.
