Coke Chief Marketing, Commercial Officer Tripodi to Retire

ATLANTA (The Atlanta Journal-Constitution/MCT) —

Coca-Cola’s Chief Marketing and Commercial Officer, Joe Tripodi, plans to retire from the company at the end of February next year, the Atlanta-based beverage giant said Thursday.

Tripodi, who held the chief marketing position for more than seven years, helped launch the brand’s “Open Happiness” campaign and was a member of the American Marketing Association’s Hall of Fame. Under his guidance, Coke was named the Cannes Lions Creative Marketer of the Year in 2013.

Tripodi, who joined Coca-Cola in 2007 from Allstate Insurance Company, will be replaced by Marcos De Quinto, President of Coke’s Iberia business unit and Vice President of the company’s Europe Group. De Quinto will succeed Tripodi on Jan. 1.

“During his tenure, Joe has successfully led our Company’s worldwide marketing and commercial organization, and played a vital role in building and leveraging our marketing capabilities and talent around the globe,” Muhtar Kent, Coke’s chairman and chief executive officer, said of Tripodi.
