Hochul Gets de Blasio Backing, Defends Record

NEW YORK (AP) —

Kathy Hochul’s bid to become New York’s next lieutenant governor was endorsed by Mayor Bill de Blasio as she pushes back against a Democratic primary challenger who has questioned her liberal credentials.

The current lieutenant governor, Robert Duffy, isn’t seeking another term. Tim Wu is gaining momentum for Tuesday’s primary, leading some to speculate Gov. Andrew Cuomo may remove her from the ballot.
