Raccoon Tests Positive For Rabies in Bensonhurst

BROOKLYN (Hamodia Staff) —

A dead raccoon in Bensonhurst tested positive for rabies and residents should take precautions, the New York City Health Department announced Wednesday.

“Protect yourself, your family and your pets,” warned the health department in a release.

The carcass was discovered on the corner of 78th Street and 16th Ave., and authorities suspect it may have infected feral cats before it died. They are urging residents to stay away from wild animals, especially if they look sick or act strangely.
