Minchah-Maariv Area Set Up Near JFK Airport
A place to daven, with kosher meals, long-term parking and a comfortable beis medrash, is opening on Monday about five minutes away from John F. Kennedy International Airport, making flights and delays for Orthodox Jews much easier.
The Rabbi Morton Friedman Minchah-Maariv/Rest Area, named for a Kiryas Joel resident who set up the similar service arena in Sloatsburg for travelers going to the mountains, will be located just off the Belt Parkway at the Rockwood Park Jewish Center.
The rest area will offer travelers minyanim for Minchah and
Maariv, a beis medrash, sandwiches and refreshments. Free short- and long-term parking will be available by reservation.
“We hope to be able to serve travelers in and out of JFK including those who get stuck at the airport, have flight delays or experience any other airport issues,” said Rabbi Tzvi Berkowitz of the Rockwood Park Jewish Center.
The shul, which is located at 156-45 84th Street in Howard Beach, will be open from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. To make a parking reservation or to hear the daily tefillah schedules, contact the Rockwood Park Jewish Center at 718-641-5822.
