NYC Museum Displays 1st Edition of National Anthem
A rare first-edition of “The Star-Spangled Banner” is on display at a Manhattan museum for the 200th anniversary of the national anthem. The Francis Scott Key poem was inspired by the 1814 attack by British forces on Fort Henry and was set to a 1770s tune. The first edition has “patriotic” misspelled in the subtitle.
