Amid Blazing Heat Wave, Summer Begins Shabbos
The New York City area on Wednesday received an early taste of summer even though the season doesn’t officially begin until Shabbos.
Temperatures in the mid to upper 80s on Wednesday are expected to remain at least in the 70s well into next week. And forecasters say the heat and humidity will combine to make it feel like it’s in the mid to upper 90s.
People are advised to wear light clothing and drink plenty of water.
With the arrival of summer, tens of thousands of Orthodox families and campers will be heading north to the Catskills, beginning next week.
