Cuomo Will Not Schedule Special Legislative Elections

ALBANY

Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo said Tuesday he will not call special elections to fill the 12 legislative vacancies, the Buffalo News reported. “It’s not in our current plan,” he said. Nearly 1.8 million voters are currently without representation as a result of resignations, convictions or lawmakers moving on to higher office. Nine vacancies exist in the 150-member Assembly and two in the Senate, which has 63 members. They will remain vacant until November’s regularly scheduled election
