East Yerushalayim Arab Arrested for Plotting Gas-Pipe Terror Attacks
A resident of eastern Yerushalayim has been arrested by Israeli security forces on suspicion of attempting terror attacks in the capital by cutting gas pipes in residential buildings, according to media reports.
Ziz Mussa Salam Auysat, 50, was arrested in a joint operation by local police, the General Security Service, and the Border Police some three weeks ago, after allegedly cutting gas pipes in the East Talpiot area of the city. He has been in custody since, and police say he has confessed to the crime during questioning.
According to police, Auysat admitted cutting pipes in retaliation for the Jewish presence on Har Habayis and IDF operations in Gaza.
According to the authorities, the suspect previously attempted to attack a chareidi man with an axe two years ago.
