Felder: $11,000 in Heating Grants Already Distributed

BROOKLYN

More than $11,000 in HeartShare grants have already been allocated this winter in state Sen. Simcha Felder’s district, the Brooklyn Democrat announced.

HeartShare Human Services of New York, which administers the Neighborhood Heating Fund founded by National Grid, helps low-income families with their high heating bills. During a typical heating season, they assist more than 1,200 families.

“People are just overjoyed when we notify them that they have been approved for financial assistance,” Felder said.

Since the HeartShare program began in December, Felder has conducted several outreach events in Boro Park, and his office is planning additional events. His office has also been assisting people who wish to apply for the Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP). Felder’s office number is 718-253-2015.
