NYPD Cop Pleads Guilty to Wrongful Stop-and-Frisk

NEW YORK

A NYC cop pleaded guilty Thursday to the wrongful stop and frisk of an African-American man who was entering his own apartment. Wilson Gonzalez stopped Jasper Boyd in Brooklyn in Nov. 2011 after seeing him walk quickly in and out of a building. Boyd says he entered the apartment to get an umbrella but Gonzalez says he wanted to check his ID for possible arrest warrants. Gonzalez frisked Boyd after he protested the search. He will lose 15 days’ pay if the punishment is approved by Commissioner Raymond Kelly.
