IDF Soldiers Come Under Attack, Kill 2 Palestinian Terrorists
Israeli troops who came under fire while seeking to arrest a Palestinian terror suspect in Qalqilya, early Thursday morning, fired back and killed the man, in the second such incident that transpired in less than 24 hours.
Palestinian residents named the man as Saleh Yassin, 27, a Palestinian intelligence officer.
Yassin was wanted by Israel because he had “opened fire toward [Israeli] soldiers on numerous occasions in recent weeks,” an army statement said. It added that a weapon and ammunition had been found at the scene.
On Wednesday evening, an IDF counterterorrism unit who came under attack during an arrest operation in Jenin shot and killed one Paestinian and wounded eight others.
Palestinians attacked the elite counterterorrism unit with improvised grenades and Molotov cocktails, according to military sources. The soldiers opened fire only after assessing that their lives were in danger, military sources said.
Residents of Jenin identified the dead man, Nafea’ al-Saadi, 23, an Islamic Jihad terrorist.
There were no injuries among members of the unit.
