Central Park Drive Renamed for John Lindsay

NEW YORK (AP) —

A road that runs through Central Park has been named after Mayor John Lindsay in a ceremony Monday, honoring a mayor who closed the drive that runs from West 72nd Street to East 72nd Street to car traffic on summer weekends. The lower loop of Central Park Drive is now called “John V. Lindsay Drive.” Lindsay served as mayor between 1966 and 1973. He died in 2000. His daughter, Margie, said her father loved riding bikes through the park.
