Poll: Christie Gets Strong Support From Women

TRENTON, N.J. (AP) —

A poll out Thursday shows Republican Gov. Chris Christie getting strong support from New Jersey women and independents in his re-election bid, even as he battles a Democratic female opponent, state Sen. Barbara Buono.

The Quinnipiac survey has Christie with a 23-point lead among women, and a nearly 2-to-1 lead among all likely voters.

In other news, Christie will be in Washington Friday to receive a Points of Light award for his leadership in the aftermath of Superstorm Sandy. The volunteer service organization’s founding was inspired by former President George H. W. Bush, who in his 1989 inaugural address described Americans serving each other as “a thousand points of light.”
