Sarah Palin Backs Lonegan in NJ Senate Race

BOGOTA, N.J. (AP) —

Sarah Palin is endorsing Republican Steven Lonegan in New Jersey’s U.S. Senate election, with the 2008 Republican vice presidential candidate saying Lonegan asked for her support and that she believes he embraces the state’s motto, “Liberty and Prosperity.”

Palin claims Lonegan’s Democratic opponent, Newark Mayor Cory Booker, is out of touch because of his celebrity status. Lonegan, she said, understands “government is too often the problem, not the solution.”

Lonegan says Palin’s support is proof the Republican Party will “always come together to stand for principled conservatives.”
