Man Brings Grenade to Police Station, Causes Stir
A parking lot near a northern New Jersey police station was briefly cordoned off after a man brought a hand grenade and a military-style box of handgun ammunition to the station for disposal.
The Record reports the man had found the items while cleaning out his brother’s apartment. After learning the man had the items in his truck Wednesday morning, Fort Lee police called in the Bergen County bomb squad.
The bomb squad determined the grenade was a training grenade with the fuse removed, and the parking lot was reopened about an hour after it was closed.
Bomb squad members also went to the apartment of the man’s brother and removed more ammunition.
No charges have been filed in the case.
