Gold, Most Other Metals End Lower; Copper Rises

NEW YORK (AP) —

Gold and most other metals fell Wednesday, with the exception of copper. Energy prices rose.

Gold for December delivery fell $11.80 to $1,313 an ounce. September silver lost 5.2 cents to $19.628 an ounce. Copper rose sharply, while platinum and palladium edged lower.

Copper for September delivery rose 7.65 cents to $3.1185 a pound.

Platinum for October delivery fell $8.20 to $1,429.30 an ounce. September palladium fell $2.30 to $726.35 an ounce.

In agricultural futures trading, December corn rose 1.5 cents to $4.79 a bushel. September wheat rose 9 cents to $6.6425 a bushel, and November soybeans rose 3.25 cents to $12.0625 a bushel.
