Judge Rules Terror Lawyer Must Remain in Prison

NEW YORK (AP/Hamodia) -

A former lawyer convicted in a terrorism case says her request for early release from a 10-year prison sentence to fight cancer has been rejected.

Lynne Stewart has said medical authorities at her Fort Worth, Texas, prison recommended her for compassionate release. The 73-year-old was sentenced on a charge of conspiracy to provide support to terrorist organizations after she helped an imprisoned Muslim sheikh, a client of hers, get word to his followers in Egypt to commit terrorism against Western targets.
