Man’s Drowning is 44th Sandy-Related Death in NYC

NEW YORK (AP) —

Officials say the death of a 62-year-old man, whose body was found in his home in April, is the 44th Superstorm Sandy-related fatality in New York City.

The medical examiner’s office announced Monday the man’s body was discovered in his trailer home on Rockaway Beach Boulevard in Queens more than five months after the storm. The cause of death was drowning.

The Oct. 29 storm was blamed for more than 100 deaths in 10 states, with many victims drowning in their homes. In New York City alone, 36 of the 44 deaths were from drowning.
