Longtime State Sen. Caesar Trunzo Dies at 87

MINEOLA, N.Y. (AP) —

Former longtime state Sen. Caesar Trunzo died Tuesday night, Republican Senate leader Dean Skelos announced. He was 87 and he served in the state Senate for 36 years.

The Republican was first elected to Long Island’s 3rd senatorial district in 1972. He lost a bid for re-election in 2008. He is survived by a son and daughter.
