Robbery-Plot Leader Guilty In Cop’s Death

NEW YORK (AP) —

The mastermind of a botched robbery that resulted in the death of an NYPD officer has been convicted of murder.
Nelson Morales was also convicted Friday of burglary in the December 2011 incident that killed Officer Peter Figoski. The case of co-defendant Kevin Santos was still being tried.
Morales and others plotted to rob a small-time drug dealer who lived in a building that belonged to Morales’s uncle. But police arrived and Figoski was shot and killed.
Triggerman Lamont Pride was sentenced earlier this year to 45 years to life. He was acquitted on a murder charge that would have sent him to prison for life.
