LIRR Cancels 11 Trains Due to Derailment

NEW YORK (AP) —

The Long Island Rail Road has canceled 11 trains for the morning rush due to a freight train derailment west of Jamaica Monday night.

Crews are working to repair the track and remove four cars of the derailed train.

Out of 144 morning rush hour trains, 11 will be canceled, five will be diverted to Brooklyn’s Atlantic Terminal and four trains will be canceled at Jamaica. Riders will be accommodated by other trains.
